My first love was the Shetland Sheepdog. I bred and showed Shelties for over 20 years. During this time, I was raising two small children, whom the shelties adored. There was never a lack of someone to play with them. I thought nothing could
compare to them as far as intelligence, beauty
and a devoted companion. Pictured above are just a few of my shelties. I was wrong!
My first
poodle was "Pierre" a rescue from a pet shop. I knew better but just couldn't leave that 6 mo. old puppy in there when he looked at me so lovingly with his expressive eyes as if saying "please take me home I don't like it here". So
I did, and he is now 13 yrs. old and still the
"king of the roost". Pierre suffered from many illnesses as do most puppy mill puppies. He has been blind from the age of three, has severe patella problems, and many other illnesses that required vet attention and lots of money. So, the moral
to this story is DON'T BUY FROM A PET STORE!!!!!
I did it because I wanted Pierre to be with me so I could love and spoil him. He also was my faithful companion and a shoulder to cry on because I was going through a nasty divorce at that time.
My poodles are now
being played with by my four beautiful grandchildren from my two beautiful grown children. Talk about a full circle...
I was fortunate
in being able to obtain two excellent quality black minis, and both of them finished their CHAMPIONSHIPS in 2006. My male "Rubin" and my female
"Lizz". My next goal is to be breeder/owner
and finish one of Lizz's pups in the future, and that would make my first homebred Champion.
Most important to me is that my babies will be someone's spoiled and loved house dog. The showing part is for my own satisfaction, and to tell the truth I am so happy when my babies go to loving
pet homes. All my poodles are house dogs and spoiled rotten. I call them my "velcro dogs" because they stick to me like glue! At night, I have at least 4 to 5 bed partners
who sleep on my queen size bed. Now you would think that there would be plenty of room "for me". NOT.
They all spread out like they own the bed, and they all have to be touching me. So therefore, I end up with no room
to move. And, don't try to move them because they are like a sack of concrete. No way, no how are they going to
move so my sleeping arrangements are about 1/4 of the bed. My dogs are not my "whole life, but they make my life whole".
Wouldn't have it any other way!
My poodles are the
best dogs in the whole world !!!! Of course, everybody says that about their poodles.
